Mahershala Ali agrees Kevin Feige should feel like a 'giant loser' over Blade
Mahershala Ali has confirmed he fully agrees with Marvel boss Kevin Feige's own assessment that Feige is a "giant loser" for not getting the Blade movie made. According to Collider, Ali made the remarks in a new GQ interview.
Ali said he had moved his family to Atlanta and underwent intense martial arts and sword training in anticipation of the project, which kept getting pushed back. He told the outlet he turned down other opportunities while waiting.
When asked why the film starring a two-time Oscar winner never happened despite Marvel's vast resources, Ali said, "That's a question for them." He added that he agrees with Feige calling it the biggest failure of his career.
Ali detailed his commitment, saying he trained so hard he injured his knee and that he's still training. He said his family was in Atlanta waiting to start production when the project was delayed again, and then the actors' strike happened.
Per Collider, Feige had previously told interviewer Josh Horowitz that the Blade screenplay never reached a level he felt was "insanely great" enough to greenlight. He said the studio didn't want to proceed with a merely good script or do a disservice to Ali.
