Manoj Bajpayee's 'Last Man in Tower' Hits Indian Cinemas This September
Manoj Bajpayee's next film, 'Last Man in Tower', will arrive in Indian theaters on September 11, according to an exclusive report from Variety. The first teaser for the project has also been released.
The movie is an adaptation of Aravind Adiga's novel, sharing its name with the Booker-winning author's 'The White Tiger'. Ben Rekhi serves as director, while production comes from Rana Daggubati's Hyderabad-based company, Spirit Media. This marks Spirit Media's first foray into producing a Hindi-language feature film.
The plot centers on a retired educator, known as Masterji, whose stubborn decision not to conform puts him at odds with his entire neighborhood. His solitary stand forces his fellow residents, including a woman named Mrs. Puri, to confront their own values and the compromises they're willing to make.
The cast brings together Bajpayee, Boman Irani, and Divya Dutta as the lead trio, marking the first on-screen collaboration between Bajpayee and Irani. Sukant Goel also appears. The screenplay was penned by Sooni Taraporevala, with Hindi dialogue by Juhi Chaturvedi.
In a statement obtained by Variety, director Rekhi called the experience 'deeply fulfilling' and praised the power of his lead actors working together. Producer Daggubati said the story finds 'something universal' in the lives of its specific characters.
