Marathon director reassures fans extraction mode isn't being sunset

Marathon Game Director Del Chafe is assuring players the game's extraction mode isn't going anywhere.
This follows a recent roadmap reveal from Bungie, which per IGN outlined plans for new PvE and deathmatch modes. Some fans reportedly worried the hardcore extraction mode would be neglected, especially after developers said the game had previously "flopped" because it was too hard.
Chafe used the Marathon Development Team Twitter account to address the concerns. "We want to be clear, Extraction is still a major part of Marathon, and we're also going to continue updating it as we look to the future of the game," he wrote.
The director also asked the community for feedback on the extraction mode. Streamer Drewsky replied, citing problems like spawn rushes and punishing death spirals that can price players out of matches.
Bungie's work on Marathon's updates coincides with its previously announced efforts to bring back vaulted content in Destiny 2.
