Marisha Ray Joins FF7 Revelation as a Polygonal Shiva

Marisha Ray of Critical Role is joining the cast of Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Per IGN, she will voice a character called Polydroid Shiva, a digital, NPC-style version of the classic ice summon.

Square Enix revealed the news during a panel at New York Comic Con. A clip shown there featured this blocky Shiva interacting with Vincent Valentine, who is voiced by Ray's real-world spouse and fellow Critical Role performer Matt Mercer. In the clip, she appears to be announcing a snowboarding minigame.

According to IGN, Mercer was asked about acting opposite his wife for the game. He expressed excitement but also noted a concern, telling the panel he'd checked with the developers to ensure she was hired on her own merits and not through any personal connection.

Kotaku also reported on the casting, describing Polydroid Shiva as looking like a "Lego-looking" version of the character, similar to the mini-game models seen in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The outlet highlighted the "chemistry" between the two characters, given the actors' off-screen relationship.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027.
