Marvel's Wolverine patch adds option to turn off controversial scent trails
Insomniac Games has released a new update for Marvel's Wolverine that finally lets players turn off the game's much-debated scent trails, per IGN.
The patch adds three new toggle settings in the options menu. Players can now switch off the visual trails for finding Whiskey Bottles, the audio cues for Material Crates, and the visual guides for Nightmare Door Roots. The first two features had been a particular point of contention online, with some players calling them overly hand-holdy.
The update also squashes several bugs. It fixes an issue where Logan's claws could get stuck while sliding down a tree early in the game, as well as a problem with misaligned claws in photo mode. Another glitch involving strange-looking bathroom signs, which some fans mistakenly thought pointed to AI-generated art, has also been corrected.
According to the report, story-critical scent trails, like those used to track a character in a specific mission, will remain active regardless of these new settings. Insomniac had already reduced the opacity of these trails in a previous update to make them less intrusive.
Studio community director James Stevenson reiterated on social media that the team is continuing to listen to player feedback. The patch aims to give players more control over their gameplay experience after launch week discussions focused heavily on these assist features.
