Marvel's Wolverine saw 35% of launch sales on disc, data shows

According to sales data reported by VGC, Marvel's Wolverine had a significant chunk of its launch sales come from physical copies. Ampere data suggests 35% of the PlayStation 5 exclusive's initial sales were the disc version.
The split was even more pronounced in Europe, where GSD data indicates over half of the game's launch sales were physical. However, VGC notes this varied by country, with two-thirds of UK sales being digital while over two-thirds were physical in France.
The Ampere data also placed Wolverine as the second-best-selling PS5 game in September, with reported sales of around 2.16 million units.
Analyst Joost van Dreunen told The Game Business that the numbers show consumers remain attached to physical editions. "People have a need to collect," he said, per the report.
This comes after Sony announced it will stop producing PS5 game discs for titles launching after January 2028.
