MatPat teams with Blumhouse for Amanda the Adventurer movie

Blumhouse is diving into another video game adaptation, this time with a viral indie horror hit. The studio announced a multi-project deal with popular YouTuber Matthew 'MatPat' Patrick at New York Comic Con, with the first film being based on the game "Amanda the Adventurer."
According to Variety, the project will be produced by MatPat, Blumhouse's Jason Blum, and Epic Pictures CEO Patrick Ewald. The team is currently in talks with writers and directors, with MatPat stating on stage they are "actually moving fast" to get it made, per IGN.
The film adapts the puzzle-horror game from developer MANGLEDmaw Games. In it, a character named Riley explores a deceased aunt's house and finds VHS tapes of a low-budget 2000s children's cartoon. The show features a girl named Amanda and her sheep friend Wooly, who begin to communicate directly through the TV in an increasingly unsettling way.
MatPat described the project to the NYCC crowd as "horror with heart," calling Amanda a "horrifying but tragic character." He said the story asks, "Can you trust the media being put in front of your kids?"
The "Amanda the Adventurer" movie is just the first in the partnership, with both outlets confirming Blumhouse and MatPat plan to adapt more viral indie horror games for the big screen.
