Miami-Dade Sheriff Blasts Plan to Advertise GTA 6 Around the City
A proposal to decorate Miami with ads for Grand Theft Auto 6 has hit a major roadblock from local law enforcement. According to IGN, Miami-Dade County officials had previously discussed promotional ideas with Rockstar Games, such as putting game artwork on public transit, designing special utility covers, and installing welcome signs at the airport themed after the game's Vice City setting.
Miami-Dade Sheriff Cordero-Stutz has now publicly condemned the potential partnership. In a statement obtained by NBC Miami, the sheriff argued the game series celebrates illegal acts that police work to stop, including violence targeting officers, theft, and drug deals.
County Commissioner Kevin Bermudez also voiced strong opposition, questioning the logic of temporarily renaming a major airport after a fictional criminal hub. He stated the county should market its real achievements as a global destination, not a version defined by lawlessness.
The promotional plans, which were never finalized, are now in serious doubt following this official pushback. The sheriff's criticism arrives as the game itself has become a topic of broader online debate, with some social media users controversially claiming that playing its story mode could be considered infidelity.
