Michael Douglas reveals Marvel refused his request to kill off Hank Pym

Michael Douglas wanted out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the studio said no, according to a Variety report.
On the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, the actor confirmed he asked to have his character, Hank Pym, killed off after his second appearance in the franchise. "I would have been killed off after the second one, but they wouldn't let me," Douglas said.
He doubled down on the request for the third film, 2023's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." Per Variety, Douglas told "The View" last year that he pitched a dramatic death scene using extensive special effects, like shrinking to ant size and exploding.
Douglas, who first played Pym in 2015's "Ant-Man," said he initially joined the franchise to experience a green-screen movie. He called the process "hard acting" and noted that while he enjoyed working with Paul Rudd, "you can't get out of it."
He has since stated he doesn't think he'll be showing up for a fourth film.
