Mike P. Nelson Tapped to Direct Next Saw Movie
The next Saw film has a director. According to a report from Collider, Mike P. Nelson will helm the upcoming, untitled installment in the long-running horror series. The announcement was made in a social media video, though no title, release date, or story details were shared.
Per ScreenRant, the movie will be produced by Blumhouse Productions, which now has a controlling interest in the franchise after a recent business deal. Original creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell are also on board as producers.
The new project already has a completed script, written by Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock, according to ScreenRant. This follows the collapse of a previously planned sequel to Saw X, which reportedly fell apart over creative disagreements.
Nelson is known for directing the 2021 Wrong Turn reboot and the recent Silent Night, Deadly Night remake. It remains unknown if franchise star Tobin Bell will return as Jigsaw, or where this new film will fit into the series' famously tangled timeline.
