Minecraft reveals first new game dimension in 14 years
Mojang just announced the first new dimension for Minecraft in over 14 years. The Sift will become the game's fourth realm, joining the existing trio of the Overworld, Nether, and End.
According to Nintendo Life, the new dimension was previously revealed for the upcoming Minecraft Dungeons II. Mojang confirmed The Sift will arrive in the core Minecraft game on both Bedrock and Java editions next year.
Players will get an early look at The Sift when Minecraft Dungeons II launches on Switch 1 and Switch 2 on September 29, 2026. The main Minecraft game itself is scheduled to hit the Switch 2 on October 27 with a free upgrade path.
The same Minecraft Live presentation also offered a first look at the upcoming Ice Caves biome. The new cave type will feature icicles, glowing ice crystals, calcite, and a new frozen zombie enemy.
