Modern Warfare 4 campaign scores big with Steam players, hailed as a top-tier COD story

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign appears to have pulled off a major comeback with players, according to early reports from Steam.
Over on the PC platform, Eurogamer reports the game currently holds a "Very Positive" rating based on more than 3,100 user reviews. This early access period for the campaign went live on October 19, and the positive reception makes it the highest-rated Call of Duty on Steam in over a decade. The outlet notes this sentiment is a significant improvement over last year's Black Ops 7.
Polygon is also singing the campaign's praises, calling it "one of the series' best" and ranking it as a top-five Call of Duty campaign story. The story reportedly follows two parallel threads: one involving a joint U.S. and South Korean unit fighting a North Korean invasion, and another following Captain Price on the run after the events of the previous game.
The campaign takes players to locations like a fictional Hajin City, a snowy North Korean wasteland, and global hotspots including New York and Paris. Polygon describes a cinematic experience with standout action moments, from battling in darkness after an EMP strike to a nightclub sequence where Price is likened to John Wick.
With the core multiplayer still to launch on October 23, the current buzz is solely about the single-player story. The game's new DMZ extraction shooter mode is set to unlock for pre-order players on October 20.
