Modern Warfare 4 player claims YOLO difficulty victory with 'pure luck'

A Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 player has reportedly conquered the campaign's punishing YOLO mode, per IGN. The mode, unlocked after any campaign completion, features instant kills and sends players back to the very start upon a single death.
The player, known as Lost-Equivalent2352 on Reddit, told IGN their strategy relied heavily on AI allies. They stated they would hide behind cover for minutes at a time to let their teammates eliminate enemies. The player also used flashbangs and grenades when possible.
According to the Redditor, the mission 'Retreat' was a major hurdle. The chaotic nighttime scenario features heavy gunfire and civilians, but friendly fire counts as an instant death, preventing explosive use. They called their success there 'pure luck.'
Lost-Equivalent2352 also claimed the mode is impossible on a controller due to the need for mouse-level precision for long-range combat. They highlighted a specific hand-to-hand fight as particularly difficult, criticizing the new melee system's lack of feedback.
The entire successful run took roughly 20 hours, following three total attempts spanning 40 hours. The reward for this feat is reportedly a single in-game Calling Card.
