Monster Hunter Ascendance trailer reveals floating islands and grown-up companion
A fresh look at Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance has landed. Per Eurogamer, the expansion's new trailer debuted during a Sony State of Play, teasing the content arriving next year.
The footage begins with an elder dragon demolishing a large structure. This destructive act reportedly clears away a mist, opening up a new hunting region for players to explore.
One of the base game's major characters, Nata, gets a visual overhaul in the trailer. Eurogamer notes the character has visibly aged since the events of Monster Hunter Wilds and will accompany players to newly revealed floating islands.
New monsters are on display, including diving bird-like creatures and oily beings that emerge from fallen foes. The trailer also confirms the return of several fan-favorite elder dragons from earlier series entries and shows off fresh skills for the game's weapon arsenal.
The preview concludes by teasing a new dragon that appears to wield storm-based attacks. The expansion is scheduled for release in 2027.
