Mortal Shell 2's sold-out PS5 discs spark fan backlash aimed at Sony
Players are making a statement with their wallets. The special PS5-only physical 'Revered Edition' of Mortal Shell 2 has sold out completely, according to developer Cold Symmetry and reported by IGN.
The demand has 'exceeded expectations' and outstripped supply, as per Push Square, meaning it's unlikely more stock will arrive before the game's launch on August 20, 2026. Now, only the base digital version will be available.
Fans are not letting the moment pass quietly. Kotaku reports they are sending the sell-out news directly to Sony, using it as ammunition in their ongoing campaign to push the company to reverse its move away from physical discs.
