Na Hong-jin's 'Hope' dominates Korean box office with massive market share
The local sci-fi survival thriller 'Hope' absolutely crushed the competition at the South Korean box office last weekend. According to Variety, the film pulled in a whopping $11.3 million from over 1.5 million admissions.
That staggering haul gave director Na Hong-jin's movie a nearly 67% market share, per data from the Korean Film Council's KOBIS service. The blockbuster easily secured the number one spot.
It was a decisive victory for the highly anticipated film, leaving little hope for any other releases in the market.
