Netflix cancels 'Ransom Canyon' after two seasons due to cost and ratings drop

The romantic western drama 'Ransom Canyon' is officially done at Netflix. Per /Film, Deadline reported the show's cancellation on September 10, 2026, citing Season 2's underperformance.
While Season 2 premiered at number two on Netflix's U.S. TV charts and hit number one the next day, its first-week viewership was 4.1 million, a 43% drop from Season 1's debut of 7.2 million. It also left the Top 10 after three weeks, one week less than the first season managed.
Deadline noted the show already had a reduced episode order and a creative overhaul for its second season. The outlet speculated the series' 'considerable' budget, likely due to its big-name stars, also factored into the decision, making the viewership numbers insufficient to justify the cost.
Star Minka Kelly posted a farewell on Instagram, thanking fans for 'two beautiful seasons.' Showrunner April Blair had told Entertainment Weekly she saw Season 2's ending as just the beginning for the characters, but those plans are now shelved.
