Netflix Is Making a 'Sesame Street' Movie
Netflix is going to the place where the air is sweet. The Hollywood Reporter and Variety both confirm a new 'Sesame Street' film is now in development at the streamer.
The project is a joint effort from the non-profit Sesame Workshop and producer Dan Lin's company Rideback, according to the reports. This is part of a larger preschool push from Netflix, which also announced an extension of its deal for the classic TV series through a 62nd season.
More episodes of the main 'Sesame Street' show are coming soon. Per The Hollywood Reporter, new Season 57 episodes arrive November 23. The CGI spinoff 'Mecha Builders' will hit Netflix on October 26.
The streamer is also expanding its own hit kids' library. A spinoff from 'Gabby's Dollhouse' called 'Doozie's Doghouse,' focusing on Gabby's little sister, is set to premiere November 9. An unscripted holiday baking series, 'Gabby's Dollhouse: Makers and Bakers,' hosted by Laila Lockhart Kraner, launches December 9.
Other new projects include the greenlit preschool series 'Puppy Pirates,' about four heroic dogs, and renewals for 'Bad Dinosaurs.' Netflix's gaming arm will also release titles based on 'KPop Demon Hunters,' 'Numberblocks,' and 'Trash Truck' this fall.
Netflix revealed that kids and family content accounted for 15% of its total viewing hours in the first half of 2026. In a statement provided to both outlets, Netflix VP Heather Tilert said the company is "curating a slate of favorite-worthy series, films, and games" to serve children at every stage of development.
