Netflix's 'The Mosquito Bowl' Gets Theatrical and Streaming Release Dates
Peter Berg's World War II film 'The Mosquito Bowl' now has a release plan. According to an exclusive from Variety, the movie will open in U.S. theaters on October 30 before landing on Netflix on November 25.
It will play in select AMC theaters, marking a rare partnership between the streamer and the exhibitor.
The film is based on Buzz Bissinger's bestselling book and tells the true story of four college football stars who enlisted after Pearl Harbor. They played in a legendary game of football while preparing for the invasion of Okinawa.
Nicholas Galitzine stars as John McLaughry, leading an ensemble that includes Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis. Berg co-wrote the screenplay with Mark L. Smith and also appears on screen as Gen. Buckner.
The production reunites Berg with 'Friday Night Lights' collaborators Bissinger and the band Explosions in the Sky, who composed the score. Key crew includes cinematographer Jacques Jouffret and sound designer Wylie Stateman.
