Netflix Unveils First Look at Peter Berg's War Football Film The Mosquito Bowl
Netflix has released a batch of first-look images for director Peter Berg's upcoming film, 'The Mosquito Bowl,' per JoBlo. The project adapts Buzz Bissinger's non-fiction book about a football game played by U.S. Marines in the Pacific during World War II.
The official logline describes the story of four college football stars who enlist after Pearl Harbor. As they prepare for the invasion of Okinawa, they participate in a legendary game that will be the final contest for many of the players.
The cast includes Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, and Ray Nicholson, alongside Tom Francis, Brent Comer, and Dominic Bogart. Reports cited by the outlet say the actors underwent intensive training to play unpadded, 1940s-style football on muddy fields to capture the period's brutal realism.
According to the report, the film has been described as blending the combat intensity of 'Saving Private Ryan' with the team camaraderie of a sports movie like 'Remember the Titans.'
'The Mosquito Bowl' is scheduled to hit theaters on October 30, 2026, before arriving on Netflix for streaming on November 25, 2026.
