New behind-the-scenes footage released for Godzilla Minus Zero sequel
Toho and GKIDS have dropped a fresh peek at the making of the next Godzilla film. Per JoBlo, the clip gives a production glimpse of the follow-up to the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One.
The sequel, titled Godzilla Minus Zero, is set for a world premiere at the New York Film Festival. It will then open in Japanese theaters on November 3, followed by a North American release on November 6.
Director Takashi Yamazaki is back writing and directing, and also supervising visual effects. The studios claim the new movie has even more effects work than the first, while keeping the human drama central. Yamazaki previously expressed interest in a sequel, telling JoBlo he wanted to explore kaiju battles that meaningfully connect to the human story.
The cast sees the return of Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe, with Min Tanaka joining as a new character, a biologist named Kanji Murakami. The film was shot for IMAX, marking a first for a Japanese production.
