New Fable main quest clocks in at around 20 hours, devs say
The upcoming Fable reboot will feature a main story campaign that lasts roughly 20 hours, according to a developer Q&A attended by IGN.
Associate directors Will Kennedy and Craig Littler confirmed the estimated length during a panel at gamescom 2026. They stated the core narrative quests will take 15 to 20 hours, with an equal amount of time available for side activities and open-world exploration.
This planned runtime keeps the game in line with the series' history, where previous main stories averaged 12 to 13 hours. The 2027 title is already positioned to be the longest core Fable experience yet.
Kennedy emphasized the game's life simulation systems are designed to be played indefinitely, offering endless activities beyond the main quest. Littler echoed that sentiment, stating players could theoretically play forever if they wished.
The fantasy RPG is scheduled to launch on February 23, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
