New Harry Potter trailer drops as HBO releases first look at Voldemort
A fresh trailer for HBO's Harry Potter remake has arrived, showing the iconic trio's first year at Hogwarts. According to Variety, the footage features newcomer Dominic McLaughlin as Harry trying on the Sorting Hat, attempting Quidditch, and using the invisibility cloak. His friends Ron and Hermione are played by Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton.
Meanwhile, Collider reports that new images from the series offer a cheeky first look at Voldemort. The Dark Lord is seen as a concealed presence on the back of Professor Quirrell's head, with actor Luke Thallon playing the nervous teacher. The photos also showcase the Great Hall, the Sorting Ceremony, and key cast members in costume.
The series adapts 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' and boasts a massive ensemble. Per the reports, John Lithgow is Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu is Severus Snape, Janet McTeer is Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost plays Hagrid. Francesca Gardiner is the show's head writer and an executive producer.
Despite no one having seen the finished show, HBO has already greenlit a second season. Collider notes that Season 2 will adapt 'The Chamber of Secrets,' with Kit Harington reportedly stepping in to play Gilderoy Lockhart.
The first season is scheduled to premiere on HBO Max on Christmas Day in 2026.
