Nicolas Cage Blasts AI, Says He Won't Work With Amazon After Spider-Noir

Nicolas Cage isn't just a versatile actor. He's an AI skeptic with a hard line in the sand, per Kotaku.

Speaking at New York Comic Con, Cage stated he refused to sign an AI waiver for his role as a gumshoe Ben Reilly in the live-action Amazon series Spider-Noir. He says that decision likely ended his relationship with the studio. "Amazon is a very AI friendly company," Cage said. "I am not an AI friendly actor. I'm probably not going to be working with that studio again."

Amazon officially cancelled Spider-Noir last month, though the direct link to Cage's AI stance is unconfirmed. The actor will continue voicing the character in Sony's animated Spider-Verse films.

Cage also told the panel the AI trend in Hollywood has made him more interested in collaborating with younger, YouTube-raised directors who are also critical of generative tech. He specifically named Backrooms creator Kane Parsons as someone he hopes to work with.

Separately, fan praise for his anti-AI stance unearthed old rumors that Cage is also a massive fan of the Nintendo 64-era Bomberman video games, with photos cited as evidence.
