Nintendo Announces Two Directs Next Week, One Dedicated to Zelda's 40th
Nintendo is hitting fans with a double dose of Direct broadcasts next week. IGN reports the first is a special 30-minute presentation celebrating The Legend of Zelda's 40th anniversary, scheduled for Tuesday morning. A general Nintendo Direct will follow on Wednesday for 45 minutes, with an extended Nintendo Treehouse gameplay stream lasting nearly two hours afterward.
The Zelda-focused show is expected to provide updates on the franchise. Per IGN, this will likely include a detailed look at the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2 and could feature a first proper glimpse of the live-action Zelda movie. Nintendo has officially stated the actor playing Link is Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, with Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda.
According to Polygon, the general Direct on Wednesday will concentrate on Switch 2 games slated for release this winter. GameSpot notes that titles like Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, launching later this month, are safe bets for appearance.
Rumors and retailer listings have swirled around the Ocarina of Time remake's release date. Polygon mentions a Swiss retailer listing that pointed to a December 1, 2026 launch, which would place it after Grand Theft Auto VI's November arrival.
