Nintendo Confirms Switch 2 Price Hike for UK, Effective September 1
Nintendo has officially announced the new UK price for the Switch 2, confirming a £24 increase. Per VGC, the console will rise from £395.99 to £419.99 starting September 1.
This move follows a global price adjustment Nintendo first announced in May for the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan. According to Nintendo Life, the price in Ireland will also increase from €469.99 to €499.99 on the same date.
The company had previously detailed other regional hikes. VGC reports the US price is jumping from $449.99 to $499.99, Canada from $629.99 to $679.99, and the Eurozone from €469.99 to €499.99.
In a statement shared via its UK X account, Nintendo cited "changes in market conditions" and its "global business outlook" for the revisions. The company apologized for the impact on customers and thanked them for their understanding.
The price increase was long anticipated, as other console manufacturers like Sony and Microsoft have also raised hardware prices this generation, a reversal of the typical trend of prices dropping over time.
