Nintendo's Zelda remake trailer reveals first Dark Link footage

Nintendo has debuted our first good look at Dark Link in the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. According to IGN, the shadowy doppelgänger appears in new Japanese TV spots for the game.

The footage shows Link battling his dark reflection in a familiar, foggy arena. The room, known from the original game, features a spindly, withered tree and a floor covered in a thin layer of water.

Per IGN, Dark Link is a mini-boss who appears in the Water Temple. The character famously mimics the player's own save file name and has health that dynamically scales to match Link's own at the time of the fight.

The brief trailers also feature other key moments, including Ganondorf playing a large organ and Link obtaining the Master Sword. Nintendo Life also highlighted the ad's focus on the game's darker elements.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is scheduled to launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026.
