Obsidian boss says studio DNA unchanged after Microsoft layoffs

The director of The Outer Worlds 2 is pushing back against chatter that recent turmoil has changed the studio's core identity. According to Rock Paper Shotgun, the boss insists Obsidian still has "the same DNA" that powered classics like Fallout: New Vegas and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II.

The comment comes after Microsoft's mass layoffs last week hit the developer, cutting about a quarter of its staff. The report notes that speculation followed, with talk that the studio is pivoting to a new Fallout game led by New Vegas director Josh Sawyer, reportedly shelving a sequel to Avowed in the process.
