Obsidian's new Fallout project emerges amid studio turmoil
A new Fallout game from Obsidian Entertainment is reportedly in the works, led by director Josh Sawyer, per IGN. This would be the long-awaited follow-up to the beloved Fallout: New Vegas, which Obsidian originally developed.
The news, however, arrives on the heels of major industry layoffs at Microsoft and Xbox. The report also states that Obsidian's planned sequel to its upcoming RPG Avowed has been canceled.
The development paints a complicated picture: fans may get the sequel they've clamored for, but at a significant cost to the studio's other ambitions and workforce.
