Original 'Practical Magic' actress speaks out on sequel recasting backlash
Alexandra Artrip, who played a younger version of Sandra Bullock's character in the first film, has responded to criticism over the casting of her role for the sequel.
In the upcoming 'Practical Magic 2,' the parts of Sally Owens' grown daughters have been recast. Maisie Williams and Joey King will play Antonia and Kylie, respectively, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Artrip addressed what she called the 'negativity' surrounding this decision. She did not specify the nature of the comments but acknowledged the fan reaction to the news.
The original 'Practical Magic' film starred Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as witchy sisters. The sequel was officially announced earlier this year with Bullock and Kidman set to return.
