The film world lost an Irish pioneer as Brenda Fricker passed away at 81 in Dublin, per Variety. Her agent confirmed the news.
Fricker made history by becoming the first Irish actress to win an Academy Award for her supporting role in 1989's 'My Left Foot,' starring alongside Daniel Day-Lewis. She is also fondly remembered for playing the Pigeon Lady in the beloved sequel 'Home Alone 2.'
