Paramount's Golden Axe animated series aims to be a fantasy brawler
Paramount is reviving a 37-year-old Sega video game franchise as an adult animated series, per ScreenRant. Titled Golden Axe, the show will follow three heroes battling foes to defeat a villain named Death Adder.
The voice cast includes Liam McIntyre, Lisa Gilroy, and Matthew Rhys, with additional talent from Danny Pudi and Carl Tart. The series is set in a fantasy world with magical monsters and creatures the heroes can ride.
ScreenRant describes the show as blending humor with fantasy and a story structure built around constant combat. The outlet compares its premise to a Dungeons and Dragons adventure, where characters use unique skills to overcome obstacles.
