Path of Exile 2 finally gets a full release date and a sword-swinging class
Path of Exile 2 is leaving early access for good this December. Developer Grinding Gear Games confirmed the free-to-play action RPG will launch its 1.0 version on December 11, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, per IGN.
The announcement came via a trailer during gamescom Opening Night Live 2026. The footage showed off a mix of gameplay and cinematics, promising players a complete build for the holidays.
PC Gamer reports the launch will also introduce a long-awaited new class: the Duelist. This swordsman class was highlighted in the trailer, wielding a blade for new skills. Since weapons in PoE 2 are class-agnostic, the introduction of swords means new potential skills for all players.
According to IGN, the game has been in early access since December 2024. Before the December launch, Grinding Gear Games plans a "mini-league" focused on class balance in an update dubbed 0.5.5, expected within the next month, PC Gamer notes. The developer will host a stream this Thursday to share more details.
