Peacock cooks up 'Bel-Air' spin-off starring Coco Jones as Hilary Banks
Fresh off the four-season run of the 'Fresh Prince' reboot 'Bel-Air,' Peacock is eyeing a new chapter for one of its characters. Deadline reports that a spin-off centered on Hilary Banks, played by Coco Jones, is now in development.
According to the report, the project is being developed by Will Smith's production company and Universal Television. The tentative title is simply 'Hilary,' and the script will be written by Tracy Oliver, known for 'Girls Trip.'
The proposed series would follow Hilary's move to New York City. The official premise, per Deadline, states she accepts a job from a celebrity chef and impulsively relocates, aiming to make it on her own merits away from her Bel-Air family. She soon discovers that achieving her dreams in the big city involves unexpected challenges and sacrifices.
Jones played the influencer-turned-culinary enthusiast across all seasons of the 'Bel-Air' reboot, a modern take on the character originally portrayed by Karyn Parsons. In the final season, her character was largely absent following the death of her husband, a storyline TVLine notes was about grief and finding hope.
No series order has been given yet, but the project is officially in the works at the streaming service.
