Peacock to air documentary on Wendy Williams Show in 2027
Peacock has ordered a three-part documentary about the rise and end of "The Wendy Williams Show," with a planned release in 2027. According to TheWrap, the project has the working title "Clap If You Care: The Wendy Williams Show."
Variety reports that the series will celebrate the show's cultural impact and its host's journey from radio to daytime TV, but will also examine the personal cost of that fame. It promises to address unresolved questions about Williams's departure from her own program.
The host is not participating in the new project, per Variety. However, Suzanne Bass, who was the top producer on Williams's talk show throughout its entire run, is serving as an executive producer.
The documentary will feature interviews with more than twenty former staff members from the show, sharing behind-the-scenes stories. Other executive producers include Ian Orefice, Jon Adler, Amanda Spain, Missy Walker, Chris Witherspoon, and Vanessa Golembewski.
As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, this follows another documentary about Williams, "Where Is Wendy Williams?," which aired on Lifetime in 2024 and focused on her health struggles and guardianship.
