Penn Badgley to star in 'Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone' for Prime Video
Penn Badgley is trading one kind of stalking for another. The actor is set to lead a series adaptation of the murder mystery novel "Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone" for Amazon's Prime Video, as reported by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
The project, officially greenlit by Amazon MGM Studios, will star Badgley as Ern Cunningham, a writer of mystery guides. According to a show description from THR, Ern travels to a Vermont family reunion to see his brother, who is just out of prison thanks to Ern's own testimony. The gathering turns deadly when a corpse is discovered and a blizzard leaves the whole clan stranded.
David Hemingson, an Oscar nominee for "The Holdovers," will adapt Benjamin Stevenson's book, serve as showrunner, and executive produce. "I'm thrilled to be partnered with Fifth Season and Made Up Stories in bringing Ben's heartfelt and darkly hilarious whodunit to life," Hemingson told The Hollywood Reporter. He added that Badgley is the perfect actor to bring Ern's "intensity, brilliance and hilariously dry sense of humor" to the screen.
Author Benjamin Stevenson said he is "blown away by the vision and enthusiasm" for the adaptation. Executive producers include Bruna Papandrea and Steve Hutensky of Made Up Stories. A top Amazon MGM Studios television executive called the series "brilliantly inventive" and said it subverts the murder mystery genre.
