Peter Jackson says Tintin 2 is next on his directing slate

According to MovieWeb, Peter Jackson has declared a sequel to 'The Adventures of Tintin' will be his next directorial project. The director made the announcement while discussing his upcoming films at the Sitges Film Festival.

Jackson stated he has a completed script for the follow-up, which he co-wrote with Fran Walsh. He noted the story will pick up right where the 2011 film left off, per his comments earlier this year.

The director also addressed the long delay, telling IndieWire in May he felt 'awkward' about the 15-year wait. The original agreement was for Steven Spielberg to helm the first film, with Jackson directing the second.

While specific plot details remain unconfirmed, reports have long suggested the sequel would combine two of Hergé's classic comic book adventures set in Peru. No casting announcements have been made regarding the potential return of original actors.
