Peter Sarsgaard joins Kenneth Branagh in Paramount+ series 'Laird'
Peter Sarsgaard has signed on for the upcoming Paramount+ drama "Laird," Variety reports. He will star opposite the previously announced lead, Kenneth Branagh.
Per the outlet, the series is described as an epic family saga. Branagh plays the Laird of Castle Drummoch, a proud Scot battling to protect his ancestral lands. Sarsgaard's character, named Peter Bergstrom, is a shadowy American billionaire determined to buy up the Scottish glens.
The character is a tech mogul and property magnate who has built a fortune across the globe. His drive extends beyond mere wealth, aiming to wield power by controlling land, industry, and even people.
"Laird" comes from co-creators Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth, and Georgia Lee. Joe Wright is set to direct the pilot and executive produce alongside the Butterworths, Branagh, and others. The series is a production of Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios.
