Planet Coaster devs sign on for Disney game

Frontier Developments, the studio behind Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo, has struck a deal with Disney to make a new game. Per IGN, the project will be a creative management simulation, a genre Frontier is known for.

According to a press release obtained by multiple outlets, the game will "build upon the company's extensive experience and proven capabilities as a leader" in that genre. VGC notes this suggests it will play similarly to Frontier's park and zoo management titles.

Frontier CEO Jo Cooke said the collaboration reinforces the studio's strategy of developing "world-class creative management simulation game franchises." The company's mission, Cooke stated, is to connect a creative player community with the Disney brand.

While no specific details were announced, speculation cited by VGC points toward a theme park simulation featuring Disney's intellectual property. Frontier previously developed the 2011 Xbox 360 title Disneyland Adventures.

The studio also confirmed it has another unannounced Planet sim game in development alongside this Disney project. Planet Zoo 2 is set to launch in October.
