PlayStation adding Crunchyroll anime hub directly to PS5 home screen

Sony is building Crunchyroll right into your PS5. According to a report by Variety, a new anime hub will appear directly on the PlayStation 5's home screen starting in spring 2027.

PlayStation president Hideaki Nishino announced the move at the Crunchyroll Anime Future Forum. The hub is meant to make it easier for players to find anime content and related games without leaving the console's main interface.

While a Crunchyroll app has been available on PS5 since launch, the goal is deeper integration. "Anime and gaming have deeply engaged and overlapping fan communities," reads a Crunchyroll statement quoted by Variety. The hub will serve as a dedicated portal to the full Crunchyroll app.

Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini cited the partnership's growth, pointing to existing Crunchyroll memberships on PlayStation and the upcoming 'Ghost of Tsushima: Legends' anime series. "Serving fans means meeting them where they already are," Purini said.

The anime hub follows Sony's recent launch of "Live TV on PS5," a free ad-supported channel service that debuted in August. The company plans to expand that TV offering globally.
