PlayStation Drops Free Live TV App on PS5 with 100 Channels
Sony has just launched a new free streaming service directly on the PlayStation 5. Dubbed Live TV on PS5, the app offers over 100 channels of live television and on-demand movies, all supported by ads, according to Polygon.
The service is currently exclusive to the United States and requires a PlayStation account to access. Per Kotaku, users can find it in the console's media tab. Sony Pictures Television is providing the content, which includes a mix of classic TV shows like Community and The Shield, anime series, and a selection of movies.
GameSpot notes this move brings free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) directly to the PS5, joining a crowded market that includes services like Tubi and Pluto TV. While some FAST apps were already available on the console, this is Sony's own branded offering.
Anime fans get a dedicated section with channels featuring series such as Naruto and Death Note. The service also includes a channel curated by 50 Cent, as reported by Polygon, which will host action movies and series.
Sony says the service will evolve, with plans to add more channels and expand to other regions like Canada in the future.
