Poison Ivy series in development at HBO with Lauren LeFranc producing

A Poison Ivy TV series is officially in the works at HBO. Variety confirmed the project, with "The Penguin" showrunner Lauren LeFranc attached as a producer.

According to Deadline, LeFranc will executive produce the new series but will not write it, per Collider. The outlet reports a search is on for a writing staff and a lead actor.

Unlike LeFranc's previous series "The Penguin," this show will not be connected to Matt Reeves's "The Batman" universe, as reported by both Deadline and TheWrap. It is unclear if it will instead be part of James Gunn's DC Universe alongside projects like "Superman."

The character, botanist Pamela Isley, controls plants and uses mind-controlling pheromones. She has been portrayed in live-action by Uma Thurman in 1997's "Batman & Robin" and by multiple actors on the TV series "Gotham."

MovieWeb notes the project's development follows a reported pause due to the Paramount and Warner Bros. merger, which has since been resolved under new ownership.
