Pokemon Bank shuts down in 2027, severing a key link to older games
One of the best ways to transfer rare Pokemon from older games is shutting its digital doors. According to reports from GameSpot and Nintendo Life, The Pokemon Company will end service for the 3DS app Pokemon Bank on February 27, 2027.
This move, per Kotaku, effectively burns the bridge between old and new Pokemon generations. Once the service closes, the ability to move creatures from Pokemon Bank into the modern Pokemon Home storage system will cease permanently.
Users are being advised to get their digital monsters out of the app before the shutdown. The closure marks the definitive end of the 3DS era for the franchise, following the shuttering of the 3DS eShop last year.
