Pokémon TCG Pocket to debut dual-type cards this October
The Pokémon Company announced at the PokémonXP event that its mobile game Pokémon TCG Pocket will introduce dual-type cards this October, according to Nintendo Life.
The rollout will begin with a Mega Mewtwo X ex card, which will be both a Psychic and Fighting type. The same update will also add first partner Pokémon as ex cards, with Piplup ex and Fuecoco ex shown as examples. A new series of expansions for the game is also planned for October 2026.
This news follows the recent release of the Team Rocket’s Ambition expansion in the game. That expansion features cards with art showcasing Team Rocket's logo and grunts, alongside unique Trainer cards. Special covers and backdrops featuring the Team Rocket Boss and his Persian will become available on August 31, 2026.
The announcements were made during PokémonXP, which is being held alongside the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco.
