Prime Video orders Julie Plec tennis drama 'Rally' with Andre Agassi on board
Prime Video is getting into the game with a new series set in the cutthroat world of junior tennis. According to reports from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, the streamer has given a series order to 'Rally,' a drama from 'The Vampire Diaries' creator Julie Plec.
The show will be set at a fiercely competitive elite tennis academy. The official description says it follows ambitious young athletes who learn that the solitary nature of their sport might force them to give up the personal relationships that make victory meaningful.
Per Variety, Plec will run the show, write, and direct. She will also produce through her company, My So Called Company, with Emily Cummins. The production is a collaboration between Universal Television, Amazon MGM Studios, and Entertainment 360.
Tennis legend Andre Agassi is attached as an executive producer, alongside fellow former pro Justin Gimelstob and Entertainment 360's Guymon Casady. Casady told Variety the idea was inspired by watching his own kids train at the IMG Academy, adding that working with Plec and Agassi is 'a remarkable privilege.'
Agassi said in a statement that he and Gimelstob are 'eager' to lend their real-world experiences to the project to help create an authentic look at the sport.
