Prime Video pulls plug on Nicolas Cage's Spider-Noir after one season
Nicolas Cage's gritty superhero series is done at Prime Video. Per TheWrap, the streamer has decided not to order a second season of 'Spider-Noir,' ending the show after its initial eight-episode run. The cancellation arrives just over three months after the series premiered in late May.
The show featured Cage as Ben Reilly, a struggling private eye in 1930s New York confronting his past as the city's lone superhero. The cast included Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, and Brendan Gleeson.
Despite its end, 'Spider-Noir' earned 11 Primetime Emmy nominations, including for production design and visual effects, Variety notes. Nielsen data reported by TheWrap indicates the show was a major draw for Prime Video, accumulating billions of minutes of watch time in its first month and a half.
TVLine reports that while the show is finished, the partnership between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios on Marvel projects will continue, with another chapter in the franchise already in development.
