'Primetime' Sets A24 Opening Weekend Record With $19.2 Million
A new A24 film starring Robert Pattinson has scored a major box office win. 'Primetime', where Pattinson portrays the former host of the controversial reality show 'To Catch a Predator', pulled in an estimated $19.2 million domestically over its first three days, according to Variety.
That debut makes it the third-biggest opening weekend in the indie studio's history. It surpassed the $15.7 million start for 2025's 'Marty Supreme'. Only the openings for 'Backrooms' ($81.4 million) and 'Civil War' ($25.5 million) were bigger for A24.
Directed by Lance Oppenheim, the film is based on a 2007 Esquire article. Its supporting cast includes Merritt Wever, Phoebe Bridgers, and Anna Faris. It opened on September 25, 2026.
The strong debut contributed to a busy weekend where the re-release of 'Avengers: Endgame' took the number one spot. Per ScreenRant, the film's performance also marks the biggest opening for an A24 movie featuring Robert Pattinson.
