Rob Lowe confirms 'St. Elmo’s Fire' sequel script is coming next month

Rob Lowe says fans can still expect a reunion of the Brat Pack. Per Variety, the actor confirmed a sequel to the 1985 film "St. Elmo's Fire" is actively moving forward.

During a recent TV appearance, Lowe stated the project is "definitely in the works." He also revealed the cast is expecting to receive a draft of the script in the first week of October. "All of us actors want to do it," he said.

The actor told Variety he has met with the studio and conversations have been ongoing for about four months, though he cautioned things remain in very early stages.

Lowe's co-star Demi Moore previously said discussions about a sequel were happening with Sony Pictures, the studio behind the original film. She noted the studio was driving the project but they were still seeking the right writing partner.

The original film featured a cast including Lowe, Moore, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, and Andrew McCarthy. It was directed by Joel Schumacher.
