Robert De Niro's New Netflix Thriller 'The Whisper Man' Debuts Strong
Robert De Niro's latest film for Netflix has stormed the streaming charts.
According to a report from ScreenRant, the crime thriller 'The Whisper Man' racked up 23.2 million views in its debut weekend. The film, which was released on August 28, 2026, landed as the second most-watched movie on the service, per Netflix's own data.
It was only beaten by 'Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look,' a special gaming preview that drew 31.1 million views and topped charts in 87 countries. 'The Whisper Man' did, however, climb to the number one spot in the United States.
The film stars De Niro alongside Adam Scott, Michelle Monaghan, Hamish Linklater, and Michael Keaton. Its plot follows a widower whose son is abducted, potentially linking to a serial killer his father helped apprehend.
Despite the strong viewership start, ScreenRant notes the film has been met with negative reviews.
