Meanwhile, the real Chris Hansen has finally seen Pattinson's portrayal of him in the A24 film 'Primetime,' and he is not a fan. According to a separate Variety report, Hansen called the experience "so bizarre" and "so detached from reality" in a 20-minute YouTube review. He criticized Pattinson's performance as overly dramatic and "unhinged," and claimed the film is a "hit piece" that misrepresents his work on 'To Catch a Predator.'
The film's director, Lance Oppenheim, cast actors with child star backgrounds like Jonathan Lipnicki for specific effect. The Hollywood Reporter details that Lipnicki plays a predator caught in a compromising, full-frontal scene. Lipnicki told THR he saw the dark role as a chance to prove his courage as an artist, a move Oppenheim praised as essential to the film's tone.
Despite Hansen's harsh review, 'Primetime' had a solid opening weekend, landing in second place at the domestic box office with $8.49 million, as noted by Variety.
